Welcome to My World of Colour!

Kia ora! I’m an artist based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand.

My work draws on nature and nostalgia, exploring emotions that sit just beneath the surface. I am currently working on two bodys of work. My ladies - women crowned with flowers, embodying  resilience, and the grounding power of the natural world. My second series, Nostalgia, focuses on misty windows marked with  writing, moments suspended between memory and place. Sometimes these worlds collide, see "Greer" to the right here 💚

Inspiration

Central to my current work are figurative women  symbolizing harmony with nature. These figures often feature flowers, birds, and butterflies, arranged to evoke serenity. Initially inspired by New Zealand’s native birds, and then Frida Kahlo’s vibrant work (and all of the artists inspired by her in turn) influenced my addition of the occasional intricate flower crown. Over time, my style embraced nostalgia and joy, including whimsical paintings of foggy glass panes adorned with playful, childlike images. This fusion of nature, and nostalgia defines my work, offering a familiar yet fantastical escape.

I draw much of my inspiration from the lush landscapes of Aotearoa, New Zealand environment, birds and wildlife, all of the different colours of green, women and a sense of nostalgia. Currently, I’m captivated by all shades of green—from the deep, calming tones of the forests to the fresh, vibrant hues of native ferns.

"The colours and themes in Elizabeth's art bring back such lovely childhood memories. I just had to have one of her pieces in my home!"
